Jodie on top of the world

Cheering youngsters raised the roof to herald the triumphant return of their world champion school pal.
Jodie Henderson (11) struck gold in the final of the World Kickboxing Association event in Florida to take the world title, adding to her Scottish and British titles.
Fellow pupils at Bishopmill Primary School in Elgin gave her a hero's welcome as she returned to lessons on Wednesday.
Jodie, who took up the sport when she was just four, was a member of the Kaizen Martial Arts team which jetted off from Moray to compete as part of the Scotland squad, with team-mates David Firth (17) from Elgin winning two golds and Ria Davidson (14), of Forres, taking home silver and bronze.
Jodie, fighting in the under 45kg and under 12 class, took her new world champion status in her stride.
"Before I went I didn't think I would win and then I didn't think I would make it all the way to the final, but then I began to think I could do it and I was really pleased," she said.kaizen kickboxing jodie henderson
"I was nervous but then when they gave the result I was screaming!"
The dedicated young sports star was cheered on in Orlando by her proud mum, Linda. She trains five nights a week with her Kaizen instructors and hopes to continue her success, with an eye on a future Olympics if the sport is included as predicted.

Everyone at the school is very proud of Jodie, said Bishopmill head teacher Kathleen Blacklaw, with all the children and staff keen to see her gold medal.
"We have taken a keen interest in Jodie's development in the sport and celebrated with her as she has won the Scottish and British titles, and it is fantastic she is now our very own world champion," she said.
"She has a superb attitude and we are so delighted for her. Now we hope Jodie might go on to be our Olympic champion."
